FedEx has delivered on a lease of 146,792 square feet at Houston\u2019s Ellington Trade Center. KDC has leased the space to the express shipping services company, which will relocate 250 employees to the 50-acre center beginning Oct. 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the tough economy,\u201d KDC vice president and director of the industrial program Randy Touchstone said, \u201cwe\u2019ve been able to consistently fill the space and garner interest (at Ellington).\u201d<\/p>\n

KDC inked its first leases at Ellington in December 2009, when Goodman Distribution leased 25,300 square feet and the Houston Chronicle leased 15,300 square feet. In January, Lennox Industries and Jacobs Technology each leased 7,5000 square feet. Including the FedEx lease, Ellington is currently 40 percent occupied.<\/p>\n

The center is the first industrial location in a national industrial development program launched by KDC and Harbert Management Corp. in February 2008. Ellington is being developed in two phases, the first of which was shell complete in July 2009. The second phase can accommodate as much as 320,000 square feet.<\/p>\n

The second location in the program is the three-building, 450,015-square-foot Northpointe Trade Center in Austin, Tex., which is KDC\u2019s first LEED-certified industrial development project.<\/p>\n

KDC provides a full range of commercial real estate services including corporate build-to-suit development, acquisitions, corporate facility project\/construction management, project financing, asset and land management, and marketing and leasing.
