Iselin, N.J.-based Bergman Real Estate Group has entered into an energy management contract with Pine Brook, N.J.-based GSH Group Inc. to use GSH\u2019s EnergyPlus program to help the firm consume less energy. And even a winery and parking garages are getting in on the energy-cutting action.GSH, a facilities and energy management provider that operates in the United States and Europe, guaranteed energy consumption savings for two office buildings in New Jersey: 51 Haddonfield Road\u2014a 96,400-square-foot, three-story Class A office building in Cherry Hill\u2019s Colwick Business Center\u2014and 555 U.S. Route 1, Woodbridge Towers, an 85,000-square-foot, four-story office building in Iselin (pictured).GSH launched EnergyPlus in 2004 as a new approach to contract energy management based on engineering best practices and a guaranteed consumption reduction. Work on Bergman\u2019s buildings will include the installation of a building management system, mechanical improvements and daily monitoring of equipment.In August, GSH Ireland delivered a 15 percent reduction in energy consumption to HCL BPO Services NI Ltd. at locations in Belfast and Armagh despite the fact that the numbers of employees working at the facilities had increased. According to GSH, the consumption prevented is enough to power 230 average homes.In another collaboration designed to reduce energy consumption, Las Vegas-based TRIRIGA partnered with West Caldwell, N.J.,-based Metro Energy Solutions to help companies make their buildings greener. Metro Energy provides energy audits and TRIRIGA offers software\u2014called TREES, or TRIRIGA Real Estate Environmental Sustainability Software\u2014that measures, manages and reduces exact levels of energy consumption and greenhouse-gas emissions.The joined forces present a unique product for clients that want to improve energy efficiency with measurable financial returns from their environmental investments. Metro Energy conducts investment-grade energy audits that inventory the amount of power a company\u2019s mechanical and electrical equipment consumes. Metro Energy than identifies energy conservation measures that will reduce demand and then provides engineering and construction management services to implement energy saving programs. Metro Energy will complement its consulting and auditing services with TREES.Any type of property, of course can become greener. In January, Perpetual Energy Systems and Foster\u2019s Wine Estates activated the largest solar energy installation hosted by a United States winery. The system generates 3.9 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually and eliminates 2 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. And Opus West added fluorescent lighting systems in Arizona state parking garages that can save 70 percent on energy and 50 percent on maintenance costs. Magnaray International, a manufacturer and marketer of lighting systems, produced the fluorescent fixtures, which can be retrofit to LED lamps.
