Mark Rose will officially be filling the newly created position of CEO at Avison Young, the firm has just announced. Rose has also been named the CFO of the Canadian-based real estate firm. \t\u201cAny time you have a vision and are given an opportunity that matches that vision, any great leader would jump on it,\u201d Rose (pictured) said. \u201cI\u2019ve been given that opportunity here.\u201d\t \tAfter a six-month hiatus, Rose will be bringing his real estate management experience from Grubb & Ellis Co. and Jones Lang LaSalle north of the American border. Rose most recently acted as CEO of Grubb & Ellis and previously, as COO & CFO of the Americas with Jones Lang LaSalle. \t\u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of experience both in the American market at Grubb and in the international market at LaSalle so I\u2019ve been able to establish a strong cultural perspective of how to succeed globally,\u201d said Rose. \u201cRight now we\u2019re at a down point in the real estate cycle and it\u2019s a perfect time for a company like Avison to become stronger locally and to expand into the global market.\u201d \tAvison Young is a partner-owned company consisting of over 300 real estate professionals and 11 offices scattered across Canada. The firm formed in 1996 through a merger of Graeme Young & Associates of Alberta and Avison & Associates of Toronto and Vancouver.
