Cushman & Wakefield Inc. and Envirosell, a shopper behavior research and consulting agency, announced today that they have formed a strategic partnership, which will take effect immediately. Prior to forming this partnership, the two firms had collaborated on a repositioning assignment examining tactical and strategic improvements for a major landlord\u2019s portfolio. Envirosell has offices in New York, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, Milan, Bangalore and Tokyo, and is headed by CEO Paco Underhill. Matt Winn (pictured), managing director of Cushman & Wakefield\u2019s retail consulting group, said the combination will mean that Cushman & Wakefield will be able to offer clients a full array of services, from supply chain management to valuation to \u201con the shopping floor\u201d information that Envirosell specializes in. For example, he said that Cushman & Wakefield can offer demographic information on shoppers that a retailer may be targeting. If that shopper is a 28-year old, urban dwelling male, Envirosell can tell a retailer how to arrange the merchandise and signage on the sales floor to maximize sales. \u201cSo, that shopper, before, may have only bought a T-shirt, but now, he may buy three T-shirts and a belt,\u201d Winn said. He said Envirosell can offer detailed information to landlords on how to make the most of a mall\u2019s common areas. \u201cSay if you are trying to attract senior citizens, then you want to have a lot of benches in the common areas,\u201d Winn said. \u201cIf you\u2019re attracting children, you want to make the common areas whimsical, and have low store windows.\u201d He said such information will become increasingly more valuable to retail landlords today, as the environment for retailers is likely to become more challenging as the U.S. economy slows. \u201cWhen money was cheap, the owner was able to refinance, and pull the money out of a portfolio,\u201d Winn said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
