The requirements to perform these measurements are relatively easy, such as having a year\u2019s worth of utility bills, noted Al Skodowski, Transwestern\u2019s senior vice president & director of engineering. \u201cIt takes a lot of the guesswork out of things,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s a free program.\u201dIn July 2007, CB Richard Ellis adopted the BOMA Energy Efficiency Program, from the Building Owners and Managers Association, which offers energy-savings guidelines through a series of seminars. Over the next three years, the commercial real estate firm said it would make the BEEP material broadly available throughout its system, and has set a goal of having 1,000 of its employees enrolled and trained in the program by the end of this year. Snodowski also has praise for the BEEP seminars. \u201cFor a chief engineer to an owner, it\u2019s a great way to learn the basics.\u201d But education can also be gained through in-house learning as well.
