Studley Inc. veteran Jacque Ducharme, vice chairman of the western region and past president, has died after a sudden illness, the company has announced. Ducharme, 58, died of a sudden systematic infection that ultimately caused organ failure, according to an e-mail from Studley chairman & CEO Mitchell Steir, who said, \u201cThere was nobody like him. He pioneered the idea of working as a team where, historically, brokers worked as individuals. He was a true professional and visionary; respected, admired and loved by all those who had the pleasure of working with him.\u201d Ducharme joined Studley’s Chicago office in 1972, and was named branch manager four years later. In 1996, he was appointed to the office of the chairman, and in 2000, was named president and moved to Studley’s New York headquarters. As part of the management buy-out in 2001, he moved to San Francisco, where he took the vice-chairman position and further developed the firm’s business in Northern California. He also sat on Studley’s board of directors. “Jacque was a very dedicated professional and a great friend, colleague and mentor,” said Joe Learner, executive vice president, director & branch manager of Studley’s Chicago office, where he was Ducharme’s partner for 10 years. “He had a special way with people, and was very forthright and a straight-shooter. He was more educational than confrontational \u2026 and clients trusted him as an advisor.” In an e-mail to the company, Ducharme’s late wife Mary Prchal noted the satisfaction that her husband received from his work, noting, “Jacque loved life and life loved him right back.” He is also survived by his mother, Beatrice Ducharme. \u201cThis is a tragic loss,\u201d added Studley president Michael Colacino in a statement. \u201cJacque spent 35 years with Studley and was truly part of the fabric of this company.
