Transaction Volume Down for 2017

Investment volume in 2017 totaled $450 billion, down from 2016's total, according to Real Capital Analytics data.

While fourth-quarter 2017 investment volume started off to a slow start, hitting only $66 billion as of Nov. 30, investors were active in the last month of the year, with volume totaling $123.8 billion as of Dec. 31, according to Real Capital Analytics data. Transaction activity increased incrementally each quarter this year, starting with $101.9 billion in the first quarter, but volumes were down slightly in each quarter compared to the same quarter in 2016. Total investment volume in 2016 was $475.5 billion, compared to $450 billion to end 2017.
