Whole Foods Market to Anchor $350M Towson Row Development

Whole Foods Market is coming to Baltimore county. The natural foods and organic grocer will open a new location at the Towson Row mixed-use development to be built at the southern gateway to downtown Towson. Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, Whole Foods Market and Caves Valley Partners made the announcement on Wednesday, November 5.

The new store will be Whole Foods’ tenth in the state of Maryland. It will anchor the one million square foot Towson Row development and will have approximately 45,000 square feet of space. No opening date has been set so far for the new store.

Whole Foods is Towson Row’s first tenant. Baltimore County-based HR Retail represented both the landlord and the tenant in the transaction.

Caves Valley Partners is the developer of the $350 million Towson Row project. It will be built on a five acres site bounded by York Road, Towsontown Boulevard, Washington Avenue, and Chesapeake Avenue. Plans call for the construction of about 200,000 square feet of Class A office space, 350 luxury high-rise apartments and condominiums, 200 limited service hotel rooms, 300 exclusive student housing units, over 100,000 square feet of shops and restaurants, and more than 1,500 garage parking spaces. Caves Valley Partners expects to start demolition of the vacant properties on the site next year.

“When Towson Row was announced last year, we knew it would be a transformational private investment for downtown Towson,” Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a press statement. “With Whole Foods Market as the lead tenant, Caves Valley Partners is setting the bar high. Towson Row is on its way to becoming a signature live, work, shop and play environment in Baltimore County.
