Transwestern’s industrial development arm Ridge broke ground on a 63-acre site in the Charleston, S.C., submarket of Jedburg. Dubbed Charleston Logistics Center, the facility is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2018.

Located on Jedburg Road at Interstate 26, the 686,300-square-foot industrial space will feature two state-of-the-art buildings. Designed for multi-tenant use, each rear-loading property will include 343,150 square feet, 54-by-48-foot column spacing, ESFR, two drive-in doors, 76 truck parking spaces, 202 car spaces, 32-foot clear height, a 60-foot staging bay and 64 dock doors.

Charleston’s solid fundamentals

“Charleston is ramping up for significant growth in the industrial market, driven by the Port of Charleston and corporate expansions that have added 8,000 jobs in the region,” said Steve Kros, executive vice president at Ridge, in prepared remarks. “The market is served by a single interstate, creating a scarcity of functional sites for industrial development. Charleston Logistics Center will stand out among competing parks due to its superior access to Interstate 26 for truck transportation as well as employees.”

Simons Johnson and Peter Fennelly of Colliers are handling leasing for the development.

In June, Ridge broke ground on Southpark Commerce Center’s newest 351,171-square-foot project in Austin, which is set to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017.
