NAI Hiffman has arranged a 2,713-square-foot lease for Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening at Oak Brook 22 in Oak Brook, Ill. In its search for a new headquarters location, the company was looking to in both the O’Hare and East-West Corridor, where office transactions have been on the rise, for a new location. NAI Hiffman’s Senior Vice President Perry Higa represented the tenant in the transaction.

SLAS relocated to Oak Brook due to its central location in metro Chicago, easy access to both airports, downtown Chicago and up-to-date office space options for their staff and the association’s members. In addition, the Oak Brook area provides a strong workforce for a global association like SLAS,” Higa said in a prepared statement.

It encompasses 400,000 square feet of office and ground-floor retail space divided between two 11-story towers, a single-story connector between them and a separate four-story office building.

Completed in 1966, Oak Brook 22 underwent cosmetic renovations in 1997 and 2017, according to Yardi Matrix. The property is part of Alcion Ventures’ portfolio, which acquired it in 2014 from RREEF Property Trust for $57.5 million. The price was $20 million over what RREEF paid for it back in 1995.
