MCR is betting on the Henderson, Nev., market for its next big purchase. The hotel owner-operator has acquired the 139-key Hilton Garden Inn Las Vegas/Henderson at 1340 West Warm Springs Road.

The hotel, which opened in April 2007, is located about 10 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and less than 15 minutes from McCarran International Airport. The property has 1,300 square feet of meeting and event space for up to 100 people and a 24-hour business center.

Other amenities at the pet-friendly property include:

  • free WiFi
  • on-site restaurant
  • 24-hour convenience store
  • guestrooms with microwaves and refrigerators
  • fitness center
  • heated outdoor pool and hot tub

It is at least the third Hilton Garden Inn that MCR has acquired in recent months. In December, MCR purchased the 157-key Hilton Garden Inn Denver South Park Meadows Area in Englewood, Colo. A month earlier, MCR acquired Hilton Garden Inn Orlando, a 224-key hotel located near Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks.

Growing Hospitality Firm

The sixth-largest hotel owner-operator in the U.S. with a $3 billion portfolio, MCR currently owns 86 premium-branded hotels with 12,000 guestrooms across 26 states and 65 cities. The New York City- and Dallas-based firm operates hotels under 11 Marriott and Hilton brands.

In February, Tyler Morse, CEO & managing partner of MCR Development, earned an honorable mention in the CPE Executive of the Year awards program for growing the firm since its 2006 inception. Last year, MCR closed the MCR Hospitality Fund LP, a $300 million commingled hospitality fund.

Some recent deals include the acquisition in December of the 147-key Homewood Suites by Hilton Baltimore-BWI Airport in Linthicum, Md., and the September opening of the 187-key Courtyard by Marriott Dulles Airport Herndon in Herndon, Va. In November, MCR partnered with Building and Land Technology to secure $647.5 million in financing across a 53-property national hotel portfolio.
