Electronic trading network Liquidnet Holdings has signed a 15-year sublease with The New York Times Co. for 126,427 square feet of office space at its Manhattan headquarters. The subtenant will relocate from the nearby 498 Seventh Ave., with plans to occupy floors 17 through 20.

The Class A property was designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop and FXFOWLE Architects, while Gensler delivered the interior design. Built in 2007, the 52-story asset totals 1.5 million square feet and features a lobby with an internal garden, as well as cafeteria, coffee lounge and conference center. Multiple mass transportation options provide easy access throughout the entire area.

JLL Vice Chairman Mitchell Konsker and Managing Director David Dusek represented the subtenant in the transaction, while Newmark Knight Frank Executive Managing Director Andrew Sachs and Managing Director Bill Levitsky acted on behalf of the landlord.

Liquidnet was looking for larger premises in a newly constructed building in Midtown,” Dusek said in a prepared statement. “The New York Times Building offered a large block of contiguous space in one of Midtown’s most modern office buildings, but at a lower operating cost than much of the newer product available.”

In another recent deal, Dusek represented BTS USA in signing a 11,600-square-foot office lease at the Empire State Building.
