San Francisco—Hirsch Bedner Associates has completed a $60 million, three-month renovation of Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, celebrating the property’s 30th anniversary this year. Launched in 1987 under the ownership and leadership of the Japanese architecture and engineering firm Takenaka Corp., the 533-key hotel embodies modern Asian aesthetics, emphasized by a new design.

The renovation included structural upgrades to the lobby, public areas, third floor ballroom and meeting spaces, as well as large-scale improvements to the hotel’s overall infrastructure and technology.  Out of the total of 533 guestrooms, 405 were revamped to feature a color palate of earthy neutral tones, deep seated sofas, plush carpets, quality fabrics throughout, marble bathrooms with parquet flooring, deep soaking bathtubs and separate oversized showers.

In addition, the 6,652-square-foot ballroom on the hotel’s third floor was revamped to include tall metal-cut wall screens with modern Japanese design features and crystal glass chandeliers. The spacious pre-function space offers ample natural light and contemporary art-inspired fixtures and furnishings such as copper finished tables, grey marble worktops and cozy armchairs. The 20 flexible meeting rooms on its 25th floor that overlook the city and the Bay were equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment.

Additional hotel amenities include a California-inspired Japanese restaurant ANZU, a 10,000-square-foot health club and fitness center with indoor pools, steam rooms and dry saunas, an outdoor terrace with an outdoor grass dog run, as well as a 140-seat live entertainment venue and bar.

Located at 222 Mason St., two blocks from Union Square in downtown San Francisco, the hotel is just 20 minutes from the San Francisco International Airport by taxi and 40 minutes by train.
