Fairfield by Marriott Coming to Japan

A subsidiary of Pacifica Capital K.K. has partnered with Marriott International to open a 300-key hotel in Osaka. The 14-story property is scheduled for completion in 2020.

Namba Hospitality K.K.—a subsidiary of Pacifica Capital K.K.—has entered into a franchise agreement with Marriott International to open the first Fairfield by Marriott in Japan. Scheduled to open in the summer of 2020, Fairfield by Marriott Osaka Namba will feature 300 keys across 14 stories.

During development, Pacifica will supervise design and construction, while Namba Hospitality hires employees and manages the hotel. Construction of the property began in January of 2019. Upon completion, Namba Hospitality will lease the building from its owner and serve as the hotel’s operator. The asset will offer guestrooms averaging 226 square feet, with king or twin beds, while others might include sofa beds for triple occupancy. Additional features include a 100-seat restaurant serving buffet breakfast, gym,  private room for parties and meetings, as well as parking.

Located a five-minute walk from Namba Station—which offers direct rail access to and from Kansai International Airport and is within close proximity to several restaurants, nightlife and shopping options in the Namba, Shinsaibashi and Dotonbori districts—the hotel will also be situated near cultural attractions including the National Bunraku Theater, Edion Arena Osaka and Osaka Shochikuza Theatre.

“It is our entry to the hotel management business where we expect to be a major franchisee of international brands in Japan,” said Seth Sulkin, president & CEO of Pacifica Capital K.K. and Namba Hospitality K.K., in a prepared statement.

Pacifica Capital first entered the hotel development business with its November 2017 opening of Moxy Tokyo Kinshicho and August 2018 opening of Oakwood Hotel and Apartments Shin-Osaka.
