Cypress Equities has secured a lease with Walmart for a Supercenter at its Legacy Square development in Linden, N.J. The project broke ground in May of this year and now has 21 acres of phase I in progress.

Located at the intersection of US Routes 1/9 and Pleasant Avenue, Legacy Square will include the 186,000-square-foot Walmart Supercenter, up to six pad sites and a potential hotel, adding up to 350,000 square feet of upcoming retail space.

The firm has already begun the on-site and environmental work for the retailer’s pad. Construction is scheduled to begin within the next six months. Once completed, Walmart will relocate its employees from the existing Linden store to Legacy Square. Phase II of the development is also scheduled to begin this year.

In April, Cypress Equities tapped JLL to manage two of its Los Angeles-area retail properties. Burbank Town Center is a large, indoor shopping mall containing 1.2 million square feet and Glendale Marketplace is a 153,525-square-foot outdoor shopping and entertainment center.
