BofA Scores Naming Rights for Skanska’s Capitol Tower
The anchor tenant signed a 210,000-square-foot lease in April, covering six and a half floors. The lease features both office and 5,000 square feet of dedicated retail space.

Bank of America secured naming rights for Capitol Tower, Skanska’s 35-story Class A office development in downtown Houston. Bank of America will announce the new name of the office tower upon its completion in 2019.
Located at 800 Capitol St., the high-rise comprises 754,000 square feet of office space and a two-level, open-air atrium that offers more than 26,000 square feet of retail space. In April, Bank of America signed a 210,000-square-foot lease for the tower, covering six and a half floors. As part of the lease agreement, Bank of America will occupy 205,000 square feet of office and 5,000 square feet of retail space.
“We are thrilled to have a global firm like Bank of America as our lead tenant in this transformational project that looks to the future of downtown office space,” said Matt Damborsky, executive vice president for Skanska USA Commercial Development in Houston, in prepared remarks. “This sustainable tower features a variety of unique, state-of-the-art offerings, including one-of-a-kind retail and restaurant space that will provide tenants a fresh and compelling experience in the city’s burgeoning Central Business District.”
Energy Conscious Developments
The project is the first and only Houston development to reach LEED v4 Platinum pre-certification and was one of only four core and shell projects nationally to be pre-certified under the standard. The building will consume 25 percent less energy than typical facilities.
Skanska has also developed the LEED Platinum West Memorial Place campus in the heart of the Energy Corridor, which offers direct access to the Terry Hershey Park hike and bike trails. Currently under development is Spring Crossing, a three-phase, Class A development with 850,000 square feet of office space near the Woodlands.
