Encompass Health Corp.—formerly known as HealthSouth Corp.—has announced plans to build a $25 million, 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Katy, Texas.

The facility will be located at The Reserve at Grand Parkway, providing comprehensive rehabilitative services and around-the-clock registered nursing care to stroke patients, while also tending to spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions.

“Encompass Health has been providing high-quality, cost-effective, post-acute care in Texas for almost 28 years,” said Frank Brown, president of Encompass Health’s southwest region, in a prepared statement. “Through customized, comprehensive care, we help patients regain independence and restore function after they have experienced a life-changing illness or injury. We are excited for the opportunity to extend our services to Katy and serve even more patients requiring rehabilitative care.”

Hospital amenities will include:

  • a therapy gym
  • rehabilitation technologies
  • daily living suite
  • dining room
  • in-house pharmacy
  • courtyard

The development is slated to accommodate more than 90 employees. The project is expected to break ground in the last quarter of 2018, while patient care is expected to begin in fall 2019.
