Dunkin’ Donuts has announced the signing of a development agreement with franchise group Berliner III LLC to develop 14 new restaurants in St. Louis, Mo., as well as two new locations in Kansas City, Mo.

The popular chain teamed up with former NFL and University of Nebraska players Kris Brown and Zach Wiegert, to open the new restaurants by 2023. Brown and Wiegert have also joined forces with Omaha realtor David Scott to develop Berliner’s third market. The partnership currently operates Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in North Kansas City, Omaha, Neb., and Council Bluffs, Iowa.

“Since signing our first development agreement with Dunkin’ Donuts in 2011, our passion and loyalty for the brand has only increased, and we look forward to opening additional restaurants in the years to come,” stated Brown.

“We are thrilled Kris, Zach and David have chosen to expand in Missouri, and know these restaurants will satisfy a growing consumer demand in the local communities they serve,” added Grant Benson, CFE, vice president of global franchising and business development at Dunkin’ Brands.

Dunkin’ Donuts currently operates 13 locations in the St. Louis area, according to the St. Louis Business Journal. Tim Hortons—another coffee and breakfast chain—is also planning to open 40 new locations in the area, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
