Good news for Arlington County! The Department of Homeland Security is not moving away.

Last month, the U.S. General Services Administration renewed a 120,435-square-foot lease for the DHS’s National Protection and Programs at Two Ballston Plaza. The renewal comes more than a year after the U.S. Congress authorized the agency to look for new space in Northern Virginia. It also represents an important win for the property’s owner, Brookfield Property Partners, as the DHS occupies more than half of the 234,000-square-foot Class A office building.

Two Ballston Plaza is an 11-story building, located at 1110 N. Glebe Road in Arlington’s Ballston submarket. The property was built in 1988, after designs by Keyes Condon Florance. In addition to the office space, it features 19,000 square feet of retail space, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center, a Melting Pot restaurant, an underground parking garage, a Ballston Crossfit and a Red Parrot Asian Bistro.

Colliers International’s Government Solutions team represented the landlord in the transaction. According to Brookfield’s website, Two Ballston Plaza currently has only 35,961 square feet of available office space.
