Deloitte Taps New Vice Chairman

Jim Berry will replace Vice Chairman Robert O’Brien and will step up as the firm’s leader of real estate and construction sector practice.

Deloitte has selected Jim Berry as its newest vice chairman & leader of its U.S. real estate and construction sector practice. His activity will focus on leading the firm’s strategic direction and overseeing its 1,600 U.S.-based client-focused professionals. Berry‘s office will be based in Dallas and he will replace Vice Chairman Robert O’Brien, who retains his position as global real estate and construction sector leader.

This includes the development of cutting-edge blockchain, robotic and cognitive learning applications to position our team and clients for success in today’s and tomorrow’s market,” Berry said in a prepared statement.

Industry veteran

The recently appointed executive has 32 years of experience within the real estate, construction and hospitality industries, having previously served as U.S. leader for Deloitte’s audit and assurance services sector. His responsibilities included advising public and private companies on audit, mergers and acquisitions and divestitures. Berry’s other client service and practice leadership roles within the company included audit practice leader for the North Texas offices.

Berry has a B.A. in business administration from Stephen F. Austin State University. Additionally, he is a certified public accountant and member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also part of the 2,000-member North Texas Real Estate Council and the Community Impact Committee of the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas.
