Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, will invest more than $150 million in a renovation and expansion project. Work is scheduled to begin this month, with completion scheduled for mid-2019.

The Hill Country resort officially opened in the fall of 1987, thus the announcement comes in correlation with Omni Barton Creek’s 30th anniversary. Design-build firm The Beck Group will lead the renovation works, which will be focused on blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor experiences, with the panoramic views that surround the resort as the center piece.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on offering guests true Texas hospitality and now that we are evolving the physical aspects, we expect Omni Barton Creek to be one of the most sought-after resort destinations in the South,” David Jurcak, managing director of Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, said in prepared remarks.

Dining and lounge areas

The signature feature of the multi-million dollar renovation will be the addition of a second resort tower, which will include 180 luxury-appointed guest rooms and suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the surrounding Hill Country. The new lobby, complete with a wrap-around porch, will also boast floor-to-ceiling windows. A new fireplace will separate the check-in area from the living room part in the lobby, while beyond it there will be a new multi-tiered pool deck with three pools highlighted by an infinity edge pool.

In addition, the existing guest rooms will be redesigned, while a new conference center and ballroom as well as a new event pavilion will be added. The resort will also offer six new dining establishments, including a new Bob’s Steak & Chop House, a fresh seafood restaurant, a Latin restaurant and a pool grill, a new sports lounge, a new coffee market and Canyons Grill located in the new golf clubhouse near the Fazio Canyons golf course.

Sports and business spaces

Omni Barton Creek will introduce a Mokara Spa—a new 13,000-square-foot sanctuary that is inspired from nearby waterways, creeks and springs, and will include a rooftop garden and adult-only pool. The property will also feature a new fitness center offering an indoor pool and state-of-the-art equipment with a variety of cardio machines, free weights and a mix of classes from yoga to spin. The locker areas will be fully overhauled, too.

The current tennis facility will be replaced with a championship-caliber tennis center located adjacent to the Barton Creek Country Club and will feature 10 lighted courts, top notch instructors and a pro shop with tennis attire and equipment.

The resort will get a new pavilion and grand ballroom, as well as six new meeting rooms and additional pre-function space in the new conference center. The existing meeting rooms will be revamped and, once complete, Omni Barton Creek will include a total of 16 meeting rooms and two ballrooms.
