Construction is scheduled to start later this year with development phases to be determined by market conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The Farm in Allen will be located on one of the last large development sites in town, a property that has been owned by the same family for 56 years. The Johnson family farmland was previously set aside for the Strand, an earlier version of the JaRyCo mixed-use project.<\/p>\n<p>Omniplan Architects will be leading the design in cooperation with landscape architect TBG and civil engineer Dynamic Engineering. The Farm will incorporate office, retail and residential space, as well as a hotel and a public park. It will stretch along the south side of the Sam Rayburn Tollway, beginning at its intersection with Alma Drive.<\/p>\n<p>JaRyCo CEO, Bruce Heller, said, \u201cWe are excited for the opportunity to partner with the Johnson family and transform their treasured farm into a world-class mixed-use project that will check all of the boxes for what the citizens of Allen need. The project\u2019s phases will be determined by the market needs, but overall, with office, dining, entertainment and residences, we will be creating a master-planned, walkable community that will be a new destination for Allen and the surrounding areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The master-planned project will add 1.6 million square feet to one of the fastest-growing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commercialsearch.com\/office\/us\/tx\/dallas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dallas office space<\/a> corridors, along Highway 121. Moreover, plans call for 142,000 square feet of retail; 60,000 square feet of restaurants; a 150-key hotel; and more than 2,000 residential units and townhomes. Additionally, the project design features a 2.5-acre boardwalk lake, more than two miles of hiking and biking trails, and a 16-acre greenbelt along Watters Creek, as well as additional park areas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmbracing the natural beauty of the property and creating an outdoor entertainment district will set this project apart from nearby developments,\u201d said Allen Economic Development Corp. Executive Director, Daniel Bowman, in a statement. \u201cThe focus on green space and trail system integration is very appealing to office workers and creates a lot of excitement for our residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Allen Mayor, Debbie Stout, added, \u201cThe Farm in Allen is a unique mixed-used development that really captures the story of Allen\u2019s continued growth. Just as this farmland served generations of families before us, it will transform into a modern urban center to serve many generations to follow.
